TMCSCC is honored to have been selected by RBC to host the Diversity in Healthcare Experiential Learning Program site in Miami, Fl!
The Diversity in Healthcare Experiential Learning site will expose RBC Nursing and Allied Health students to a range of engaging opportunities in healthcare, all in the culturally diverse environment of Miami. As a major gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, Miami is renowned for its rich cultural diversity, characterized by a vibrant blend of ethnicities, languages, and traditions.
The program will offer activities that will open up a range of possibilities of engagement for students including - Cultural Competency Workshops, Language & Communication Skills Training, Community Engagement & Outreach and Interprofessional Diversity!
During the Experiential Learning visit, students will have the opportunity for some "healthy" competition. The "Healthy Miami Collaborative Challenge" will offer a hands-on opportunity for the program participants. Students will be divided into two teams and partnered with Community Health Workers from a local community health center for a community engagement competition.
Each team will conduct outreach and engage individuals to offer basic health screenings. The challenge emphasizes collaboration, communication, and cultural competence requiring students to build trust and communicate essential health services. The team that conducts the most screenings wins!
Richard Bland College of William & Mary prepares students for transfer to highly-ranked colleges and universities. RBC has guaranteed transfer agreements with 35-plus institutions throughout Virginia that enables students to seamlessly transfer to earn their bachelors degree.
