A significant number of patients with chronic conditions require intensive wound care services but face barriers to access or lack sufficient benefits for necessary treatments. This disparity affects various populations, particularly those with conditions such as diabetes, venous insufficiency, and limited mobility. Factors contributing to this gap include socioeconomic status, lack of insurance coverage, geographic limitations, and insufficient healthcare infrastructure. Consequently, these patients experience prolonged wound healing times, higher rates of infection and complications, increased hospitalizations, higher rates of amputation, and diminished quality of life. Addressing these barriers is crucial to ensuring equitable healthcare and improving outcomes for all patients in need of intensive wound care.
Recent advancements in wound care have been significantly propelled by the development and application of biologicals. These innovative therapies, including growth factors, bioengineered skin substitutes, and stem cell treatments, have revolutionized the management of chronic and complex wounds.
However, these advancements are not readily available to everyone, and unfortunately, there are disparities in access to care. The TMCSCC Community Wound Care Program, in partnership with Total Managed Care Services (TMCS) provides access to advanced wound care treatments.
To determine if you qualify for the TMCSCC Wound Care Supplement Program, please complete the form at the link below and one of our care coordinators will contact you directly.
